(Philippians 4:12)

Paul, imprisoned for spreading the gospel, wrote a letter of encouragement to the Philippians advising them to stand firm in God's word. This is also a letter of gratitude. The Philippians sent him gifts while he was serving his sentence, but after he gives thanks he says that he was not thanking out of necessity for what was sent. He stated that he'd learned to be content whatever the circumstances. He'd learned to live on almost nothing or with everything, full or famished, or with plenty or little. He was determined to do all things through Christ who supplies strength. No matter the state of his being, he would survive every way or situation through Christ. Paul had even made up his mind to spread the gospel whether he was in shackles or free. Paul was basically saying, "My life can go in any direction, but I will give God thanks and spread His gospel either way."
